Ruth Elkins is a Times journalist who has the good fortune to be getting married this year. A graduate of the London School of Economics, she started her career making sure the set looked good on the Gloria Hunniford show before she moved to Berlin. There, she worked across central and Eastern Europe as a freelance correspondent for UK and US print, TV and radio.
Returning to Britain in 2006, she worked for Sky News, The Independent and The Mail on Sunday, before joining The Times as a news editor and multimedia journalist.
An experienced interviewer and feature writer, she has contributed to Red Magazine and Grazia and hosted the online TV show, The Chair. She got her first taste of the wedding industry when she orchestrated The Times’ digital coverage of the Royal Wedding. Writing a column called The Wedding Diaries, she has taken an interest in wedding-related styles, trends and issues ever since.
