We all love places that spark our imagination and, a few years ago, I was walking through Camden Passage in Angel when out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of a newly opened little boutique that did just that.
Of course, being the magpie that I am, I swiftly went in to explore and was greeted by an array of beautifully selected homeware items from French country to shabby chic.
What I loved about being inside the boutique was its array of beautifully enticing products that were all so well selected and thoughtful. The boutique presented me with a shopping experience like no other I had experienced on the high street in a long time; it was beautiful and felt like looking at a masterpiece made up of lots of treasures.
As I spent more time musing around, I knew whoever brought this little boutique together had been dreaming about it for a long time. The combination of real expertise, research and passion oozed from every table and shelf – this is what made this little boutique so special.
I have no shame in admitting that day I left with a rather large bag of pretty that still makes me smile today.
I went in a few times after that and then began speaking to Jenny Hughes, the owner and visionary behind Home & Pantry, which she opened in 2011. From there, our friendship developed; she loved my weddings and featured one to inspire brides, and I began buying all sorts of lovely things for my clients’ weddings, from rattan hearts to glass etched lanterns and jewel-encrusted mercury votives.
This boutique is always filled with lots of items that offer so many design possibilities and when I go in I always find something that has to come on a design journey with me, Jenny indulging me and loaning lots of items for my shoot styling.
We are currently working with Home & Pantry on a little project for Love Scarlett readers, so stay tuned as we will be sharing all next month.
