Past & Present

Do you want to know the best things about the summer here at Tigerlily HQ?

It’s not the necessity that comes with having to have an ice cream every time the mercury hits 20 degrees (though we do, obviously, it’s as if some sort of invisible magnet pulls us towards the freezer section, it’s entirely involuntary). Neither is it the fact that we find ourselves omitting the red wine from our Ocado delivery in favour of something lighter, bubbly and pink, though, you know, that’s nice. No, it’s the whispers that start about (fanfare please) 2014…

We know, we know, we’re only just halfway through the year, but, worldwide designers have been sketching, they’ve been buying, they’ve been designing, they’ve been creating, all ready for the Autumn when they will launch their 2014 collections.

And do you want to know the best thing of all? We get sneaky peeks at what they’ve been up to… and what little beauties and trends you have to look forward to, and (and here’s where things get our heart racing) we get to share some of them with you.

Feast your eyes Tigerlily readers, here’s a storyboard of three key looks for next season, all incredibly  chic hair and make up looks and beautiful photography that quite frankly blew our socks off (well, it would have were we wearing them, but it’s pretty strappy sandals here today – you get the gist).

Added to the styling we were enchanted and fascinated with the light that was captured in these images and the colours (adoring the pastel and ever so soft bouquets by the talented London based florist  The Bloom Bar), the exquisite new dresses from Alan Hannah (the trend towards back detail is just getting stronger and stronger), and a showcase of the Chez Bec 2014 collection (from which there is a little offer for you at the end…)

Inspired by Nature

“The first pieces to make up the new 2014 collection are all about nature. We love the whimsy of summer blossoms, we love the organic look that it can give, and we paired this up with our favourite hair trend of the year – the French plait. We wanted this look to feel utterly effortless, natural, and to just be about simple prettiness. We’ve noticed that we have been making a lot of hair pins at the moment, brides are loving the random way in which they can be placed in the hair and they are so versatile. We listen to what they want, and we took it a step further with one of our new firm favourites, the Flora vine which can be seen pinned down the length of the plait”.

“There has been no getting away from Vintage glamour over the last few seasons. We didn’t want to be too reactive as it can be easy to become a little OTT. But we really concentrated on our use of set diamantes – though obviously, they would have been Platinum set diamonds back in the day. It might have been that the Lady Mary tiara was inspired heavily by Downton Abbey… but you can forgive us that! The look is all about clean shapes, vintage sparkle, and downright decadence. And Carlton House formed the perfect backdrop with its sweeping staircases and shimmering Chandeliers.”

Inspired by the City

“London is at the heart of where we personally work, what we do, and where we go when we want to do a shoot like this (and have a cheeky drink afterwards)! It’s hard not to be inspired by the City. Our third look was all about City Chic, clean make up, simple flowers, sharp accessories and elegant lines. It screams quality, but because there’s nothing showy, it just has to work itself. We had a happy coincidence when Mr Selfridge was filming directly outside our amazing venue, Carlton House. You can’t really get more London than that. It would have been rude not to borrow the car and footman for some proper London shots. It’s the place that, whenever we go there, something happens or we see someone that we weren’t expecting. We love London.”
