We all love to achieve that naturally flawless makeup look; you know like you get out of bed, looking amazing and when other women see you they tut and shuffle off.
We all want to be in the “I don’t really need to try tribe” but we all know this isn’t true…
Don’t we? It’s time to admit and keep it straight that the pressure is on.
That pressure, you know what I’m talking about, for you to be your best amazing self, polished to perfection and looking beautiful on your wedding day. This very thought alone, is enough make the sanest of us want to run away in terror and hide.
As always, your cheerleader Tigerlily is on hand to deal with this little dilemma; and over the next few weeks we will assist you through the maze of products and techniques. We will also be sharing lots of beauty secrets, advice, tips and little “cheats” to get perfection from some of the industry’s leading experts, covering hair, skin, make-up and all things beauty.
We’re also launching our “ask the experts” session’s which give you direct access to our “beauty mavens” to ask your must have questions. So the pressure is off ladies, let our journal be your essential wedding beauty guide this season.
In this feature we will be looking at creating a natural and luminous look for your wedding day. This look is always in vogue and every bride loves a dewy iridescence.
We worked with the fabulous Elbie Van Eeden, highly regarded and seasoned make-up artist within the industry on this shoot. Elbie has interpreted her flawless look she created for the Love Scarlett Muse and because we are lovely we have also given you the inside scoop on products used to create this beautiful look.
For me, this look is totally effortless. You can see how Elbie has cleverly worked her magic to create a subtle flush of colour to accentuate the model’s fresh skin tone, softly defining the eyes and gently dusted and sculpted her cheeks, to create utter flawlessness.
So with our guidance, must-have “tips” and “make-up products” you will be able to get your “glow on” with confidence.
Dewy, glowing skin, is high on the agenda for every bride on their wedding day, and this look has been a staple in the make-up diet for brides.
To create a flawless skin, ensure you have exfoliated and your skin is moisturised before applying a base. Start with a good luminizing primer and choose a light base with a high pigment level which traditionally are higher-on-shine. Mineral foundations will give you that dewy look, and you can also try a sheer foundation, like MAC Face & Body Foundation to give the skin a lovely dewy finish, this particular foundation is lovely and light.
If you want to highlight cheekbones or brow bones use a liquid or cream highlighter.
A little bit of blusher works wonders brightening a complexion and giving you an oh so pretty glow.
I always advise brides to hit the make-up counters and get colour testing; step out of the safe zone and test, test, test! Some of my most amazing make-up finds have been found on these random wild searches. So remember, don’t only try pink blushes, try peachy and soft bronzes too, as these can be equally stunning. Remember to also experiment with different textures of blusher from cream to a stain for a subtle look, and powder for a more defined look.
If you can’t find the perfect blush colour don’t get disheartened – blending a couple of shades can create a beautiful multi-dimensional cheek.
You must start by curling your lashes, our favourite eyelash curler is Shu Uemura’s and then a sweep of a fantastic waterproof lengthening mascara will give your lashes unbelievable length and a defined luscious look. If you want to create a little more length on the day try eyelash extensions or soft looking false eyelashes, we have listed our must have products below for you.
With this look it’s all about the barely-there nude lip colour. Again you can go for a soft taupe or a subtle peach or pink. But, for me, a little sheer shine or gloss is essential for finishing this look and gives it a little hint of glam.
Skin
The models skin was primed with Embriolisse Rich Moisturising Cream and Make Up Forever HD Foundation was used to even out the model’s skin tone.
Cheekbones
The models cheekbone were emphasised by using MAC Pro Sculpting Powder in Sculpt and the blusher used was MAC Cremeblend Ladyblush
Eyes
Our model had eyelash extensions so no mascara was needed, Elbie used Illamasqua Furore on the lid and then blended MAC Wedge into the crease. To line the eye she used Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes Pencil in Dark Grey buffing it in with an angled brush to soften the effect.
Eyebrows
The models eyebrows were filled in with MAC Charcoal Brown shadow .
